Pet Food Basics

We keep food content short and careful. Diet is individual, and your vet is the right person to sign off a change.

Important: we do not rank pet foods or recommend a specific diet. Nutrition depends on your pet’s age, weight, activity and health, and that is a conversation for your vet.

What we do cover

  • How to read a label: ingredient order, guaranteed analysis and what the feeding guide really means.
  • Portioning and routine: measuring meals, treat budgets and why free-feeding makes weight harder to manage.
  • Transitions: changing food gradually over about a week to reduce stomach upset.
  • Water: why intake matters, and when a fountain helps.

What we do not do

We do not publish “best food” rankings, recovery diets or claims about ingredients curing conditions. If you see advice like that, check it with your vet before acting on it.
